Hello world! My 2009 in review.
Well 2010 is upon us and I am finally posting my first blog. 2009 was a very good and groundbreaking year for me. I had just launched my product Heelskinz www.heelskinz.com in December of 2008 and I was looking forward to what was yet to come in 2009. January started out with a bang as I was contacted in January to be a part of the Grammy Awards with Heelskinz included in the gift bags. Also I was able to put Heelskinz into the Posh Showroom at the World Trade Center in Dallas www.poshshowroom.com. What great accomplishments for me. The only thing that would have been better is if I would have gone to the Grammys (Maybe this year). This is my first blog and I promise the others from now on will be shorter.
February was my time to exhale from the last two years of getting this project together and I went to Hawaii to chill. If you’ve never been to Hawaii, I would suggest everyone go at least once. What a beautiful place !!! They call it paradise and it really is. The water is a beautiful navy blue and except for the intermittent showers that come periodically to keep the landscape lush and beautiful, it’s warm and beautiful all year round. This is the beautiful lei I was given on my arrival at the Honolulu airport.

It was back to “The Grind” after my wonderful trip to Hawii. Next came the big day, My 50th Birthday. The weekend before April 11th, the girls took me to Winstar for the Babyface concert. I love my girlfriends.
That weekend April 17th, I went to the Seabreeze Jazz Festival in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It’s a four day, outdoor jazz festival and we had a 2 bedroom hotel apartment overlooking the ocean. Here are some pictures from my 50th birthday. Below is Will Downing. The wine the beer the lawn chairs the good food and fun was had by all. I was thankful to have seen Waymon Tisdale before he passed.

May was the month I had been waiting for all year. My first trip on the Fantastic Voyage, the Tom Joyner Cruise. I met my childhood girlfriend who turned 50 this year too and we met in LA on Saturday and stayed the night in Long Beach and went to a free Morris Day concert that night. We set sail on Sunday. Because of swine flu they rerouted us from the Mexican Riviera to the North i.e. San Francisco and Canada. You can see how I like that rerouting. Despite the change in routing we are very excited about our first Fantastic Voyage. I won’t go into great detail but this is another one of those events that you must experience once. The Stars, up all night, the concerts, I needed a vacation to recover from my vacation.
We docked in San Francisco and it was cold as Shiggidy (sorry Huggy Lowdown). But I did get to see China town and had some really good Chinese food. Thanks Uncle Roy, Aunt Mora and Cousin Kevin.
We then went to British Columbia and took the Beer tour. Didn’t get any pictures of the tour and for some reason I can’t remember why! Hiccup!!
July 4th I took the Florida tour. Flew into Orlando, stay the night in Lakeland and left for Jacksonville via St. Augustine, Daytona and other small cities. Spent the night at the Landing hotel in downtown Jacksonville and watch the fireworks with a short trip to the beach. It was a beautiful sight.
The rest of the year has been one of networking an connecting. I have spent a lot of time in Atlanta as my son lives there and I would love to get my product in the Atlanta market. I have been to Atlanta about 4 times since July. I have met a lot of wonder people who have opened up and embraced me and my vision and have helped me in one way or another. Hank Stewart www.hankstewart.net . Terry Moore www.pzijeans.com. I have to take a moment to talk about a couple of young ladies that embraced Heelskinz and its’ vision as soon as we came in contact. Their names are Felicia Coley and Tami Reed, Felicia is the owner of the website The Well Heeled Society and author of the book, “How to Fall Stylishly from Grace”. I was a sponsor at her book signing. www.wellheeledsociety.com. The other is Tami Reed from talking with Tami, she is talk show Host, Emcee, Blogger, mother, wife and all around Pinktastic Dive (pink is her moniker). She is one to know in Atlanta. Check her out… www.talkingwithtami.com.
That’s basically my 2009 in a nutshell, I look forward to 2010. It’s already going really well as I just received 2 pairs of thigh high boots that I ordered. I am looking forward to a wonderful year full of love, fun, sales, networking, wonderful people, and most of all Fabulous Shoes…… More posts to come.
